The event of the century

One shadow. One minute and a half.A hundred years of waiting.

The last total solar eclipse visible over the Iberian Peninsula was in 1905. The next one to graze Valladolid will not occur until 2180. The totality band crosses the province on 12 August 2026 — a phenomenon impossible to repeat in a single lifetime.

Our mission, in three pillars.

Astroval was founded to protect the natural heritage of the night sky and to foster quality astrotourism in the province of Valladolid.

01

Skyprotection

We reduce light pollution and preserve natural darkness. We advise companies and authorities to implement systems that comply with FHS = 0% and CCT ≤ 3000K.
02

Astronomicalobservation

We certify observation points and establishments with three quality tiers — Bronze, Silver and Gold — audited with SQM photometers and all-sky cameras.
03

Astrotourismcommunity

We connect enthusiasts, businesses and authorities in a sustainable tourism network under the stars, with workshops, talks and open training.

Light pollution

of Spain's population lives under polluted skies. Most have never seen the Milky Way from their home.

Each year a third of outdoor lighting is unnecessary — light projected where it adds no safety, only waste. Smart lighting follows five principles.
