A historic event

The 2026 total solar eclipse will be the first visible from the Iberian Peninsula in over 120 years.

What will we see?

During totality, the sky will darken as if it were twilight. We will be able to see the solar corona, the brightest stars and several planets. It is a spectacle that can only be experienced during a total eclipse.

Why is it special?

The last total solar eclipse visible from the Iberian Peninsula was in 1905. The 2026 one will be a unique chance to observe this phenomenon from our province. The next one to graze the province will not happen until 2180.

Path of the eclipse

The path of totality will cross northern Spain from Galicia to the Balearic Islands.
